With schools on the long summer vacation, the C.O.D united sponsored OMODELIG season 4 has been a timely intervention and welcome opportunity for the youngsters between the ages of 10 and 15 to showcase their talent and skills while challenging for honors and building friendship with other youngsters . The competition which kicked off 3 weekends ago witnessed a beautiful opening ceremony with a march past by all registered teams was attended by management of the club (C.O.D United), journalists as well as spectators and supporters of the different clubs. Being the fourth edition of this one in a kind competition, the C.E.O of the club, Shola Opaleye, said in his opening speech that apart from the aim of the competition which is to provide an avenue for kids to showcase their talents and an opportunity to join the youth set up of the club, this edition comes with another wonderful incentive as, the most valuable players (MVP’s) in each category will be given free admission into the C.O.D United – Bolton Wanderers soccer camp, which starts on the 25thof this month (August).
Of all the teams taking part in this event, Yaba Starlets have proven to be arguably the better side with Solowonder Academy, all the way from Abia State a close second in both the U-13 and 15 categories as the likes of Tijani Rafiu ( Yaba Starlets U-13) and Lasisi Adewale ( Yaba Starlets U-15) have being inspirational for their teams, scoring two goals apiece and being the pivotal figures and these two will be crucial in their teams quest for the title and will also hope to have done enough individually to emerge as the MVP’s on the finals day. Solowonder seem to thrive more on collective effort and would also prove to be a tough team to go past. In the U-10’s category, C.O.D United’s Udoh Agomuonso also with two goals, seems to be the leading light in the team and coach Tunde Illevbare will do well to make sure, he keeps his momentum if the team is to defend their title.
